What to prepare for your application to Economics
Bachelor certificate, including transcript of records. If you have not received you BA certificate yet, the latest transcript of records can be accepted instead. In this case your BA certificate plus your final transcript have to be handed in until the end of the first semester.
For study courses with restricted admission: Your school leaving certificate or "Hochschulzugangsberechtigung" (HZB), i.e. your secondary school certificate. A transcript of records or a degree certificate of your former studies and, if available, the results of a university entrance exam of your home country.
Proof of the required German and/or English language skills; please check the homepage of the study course for detailed information.
Further documents like a letter of motivation or CV might be asked for. Please check at the homepage of your chosen study course.
If you have obtained your university entrance qualification in China (except Hong Kong, Taiwan and Macao), India, or Vietnam, you must submit a certificate from the respective Academic Evaluation Center with your application.

Admission to the M.Sc. in Economics requires a bachelor’s degree in economics, business studies or a related field with excellent grades. Applicants are expected to have sound intermediate level knowledge of microeconomics, macroeconomics and quantitative methods.
Bachelor Degree Certificate in Business Administration, Economics or related fields with a final grade of at least 2.5 or better according to the German grading system. (The final grades of international applicants will be converted into the German grading system and therefore also be subject to this rule).
Degree should preferably amount to 180 ECTS.
A certificate stating that the applicant has successfully completed a first university degree or a certificate (or equivalent documents) providing evidence of the successful completion of at least the year prior to his/her final examination in the equivalent studies.
Complete Transcript of Records with a final grade or calculated grade average. Transcripts of Records containing generic module titles (such as Economics I, II and III) should be accompanied by detailed module descriptions. The transcript should prove that the applicant has solid intermediate knowledge in
Microeconomics,
Macroeconomics and
Quantitative Methods (Statistics / Mathematics / Econometrics)

The M.Sc. Economics puts a strong emphasis on quantitative methods and analytical approaches. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to test your skills with the [Mathematics for Economics Skill Assessment](https://cornell.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6FlAlbPidYXv7g2). While this free test is anonymous and the result is not part of your application, the test allows you to efficiently self-assess your competence in some of the basic requirements of the M.Sc. Economics.
