Foreign students who have gained permission to enter a university in a language other than German need to prove their knowledge of the German language by taking the DSH 2 (Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang ausländischer Studienbewerber) or an equivalent test (e.g., TestDaF with level 4 in all components). Students who already took the DSH but did not obtain the necessary level are allowed to improve their skills and re-take the DSH exam by the end of their first semester at the European University Viadrina. Alternatively, students can be exempted from proof of German proficiency if they decide on the functionally-oriented study programme "Information and Operations Management (IOM)" or the "General Management" study option.

Prerequisites
- The Master's degree programme in International Business Administration generally requires a first professionally qualifying university degree in Business Administration and/or Economics, usually a completed Bachelor's degree of 180 ECTS credits or six semesters (full-time), in which study and examination achievements totaling at least 30 ECTS credits in mathematics, statistics, business informatics, microeconomics or macroeconomics have been proven. Proof of the first professionally qualifying degree must be provided by submitting an officially certified copy of it.
- Language of instruction is English. Language knowledge in English will be required. For being admitted into the program prospective students have to prove sufficient knowledge of the languages through an adequate certificate.
- In addition to English, German is also the language of instruction and examination in the course of study. Foreign students who did not acquire their university entrance certificate (high school diploma/Abitur) in Germany must, as an admission prerequisite, provide proof of German language proficiency either through successfully passing the German Language Exam for University Admission of foreign student Applicants (DSH) or an equivalent test, if they decide at the beginning of their studies for the functional oriented study options "Finance, Accounting, Controlling & Taxation (FACT)", "Finance & International Economics (FINE)" or "Management & Marketing (M & M)" according to Art. 6 of the subject-specific regulation (Studiengangsspezifische Ordnung).

2. officially certified photocopy of the first academic degree or an original confirmation of your university about your upcoming degree and your preliminary grade
3. translation by a sworn translator of the first academic degree (into German or English)
4. All applicants are required to submit the following form, provided by the Approval Committee, for proof of the required academic achievements with their application.
The proof of your current German knowledge has to be submitted already with all other application documents to determine
if this knowledge is sufficient already for studying or
if you need to take the DSH or an equivalent German language examination before start of studies or
if the enrollment will not be possible because of lacking language knoweldge.
A certificate of the required language knowledge must at the latest be presented at the time of enrollment (for the winter semester mid/end of August; for the winter semester mid/end of February) in the original.
Please arrange for the language certificate to be sent directly from the test institute to the admissions office. Copies – notarized or not – will not be accepted.
The language certificate may not be older than three years.
In order to meet the deadline, we urgently recommend that you pursue the appropriate language certificate in a timely fashion.

Selection process
Admission-free courses of study do not have a certain number of places, enrolment takes place within the enrolment period without any selection procedures. In the case of Master's degree programmes, however, certain admission requirements may be specified, such as a subject-specific degree or required language skills. Please inform yourself about this directly on the course pages.
Admission-limited courses of study (NC) only have a certain number of places which are allocated with the help of a selection procedure. At the European University Viadrina you can submit up to three equal applications for admission. Deviating from this, applicants for second degree courses can only apply for one application. In the case of admissions for several admission-restricted courses of study, enrolment is only possible.
