1. A bachelor's degree in economics or a related subject from a recognised university (e.g. business economics, mathematics, natural science, social sciences etc.). Students in the final year of their bachelor's degree, who have not graduated yet, are welcome to apply.
2. Documentation of your knowledge in mathematics, statistics and economics, obtained during your bachelor's degree:
3. Curriculum vitae in English and a one-page statement written by you, in English, outlining your suitability and motivation.
4. Proof of sufficient English language skills (see below under required language skills)
5. Optional one letter of recommendation from a university teacher stating your suitability and motivation for participating in the master's programme. The teachers shall write these letters of recommendation on official university paper and sign it. Copies must be officially certified. If the letter is not in English or German, please provide an official translation.
6. Results of the GRE test ([Graduate Record Examinations](http://www.ets.org/gre)) or GMAT Test (Graduate Management Admission Test) – only necessary if your undergraduate degree is not falling under the [Lisbon Convention](https://www.coe.int/en/web/conventions/full-list?module=s...)
7. Application (informal) for recognition as a case of hardship (if applicable).
8. If you have been enrolled at a German institution of higher education, please submit confirmation of leaving this university (Exmatrikulationsbescheinigung).
International applicants:
The MSc Economics is completely taught in English. Therefore, appropriate knowledge of English is required, proven at least by
1. five years of continuous English lessons at secondary level 1 and 2 at a school in Germany, completed with a grade of satisfactory or better (can be proven by German High School diploma / Abiturzeugnis)
2. secondary school degree from an English-speaking educational institution in one of the following countries: USA, Canada, Great Britain, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa
3. successful participation in business and economics courses amounting to at least 30 ECTS taught in English in a degree programme in the European Economic Area or Switzerland
4. Bachelor's degree from a degree programme taught entirely in English

What to prepare for your application to Economics
