All applicants will be informed about either their acceptance or rejection.
All applicants for programs with unrestricted admission who meet the admission requirements are granted a place on the course. They will receive a letter from the university inviting them to register. Applicants who do not meet the admission requirements will also be notified in writing.
The programs with restricted admission are subject to a selection procedure. The selected applicants will be informed by the university in writing (by a 'letter of acceptance'). This letter of acceptance will ask them to formally accept the place offered to them by a certain deadline, to send any documents that may still be missing, and to register.
Unsuccessful applicants will also be notified in writing. The letter of rejection informs them about how well they did in the selection procedure and what place they were given in the ranking list made during the selection procedure. The rejection automatically puts them on a waiting list, the so called “Nachrückverfahren”. Applicants on the waiting list are given any places on the course that subsequently become vacant. Places may become vacant due to selected applicants failing to accept the place they were offered or deciding to reject their selection. The waiting list normally remains active until all of the places on the course have been taken, but only until the close of registration at the latest.
