As part of a research project on laser welding with ultra-high-power lasers, you plan and prepare welding trials and carry them out, investigating different intensity profiles and beam shaping concepts for thick-plate welding
In the analysis and optimization of welding processes, you evaluate relevant process and quality data to improve both welding quality and productivity
By conducting and evaluating metallographic examinations, you characterize weld seam geometry, microstructure, and possible defect patterns
From your investigation results, you derive process relationships and optimization potentials for welding of large material thicknesses
With the documentation of your results and the presentation of the gained insights, you contribute to the further development of productive and high-quality welding processes

A degree in mechanical engineering, materials science, laser technology, production engineering, physics, mechatronics, or a comparable STEM program forms your technical basis, complemented by interest in laser technology, welding technology, materials science, and industrial manufacturing processes
Ideally, you have initial practical experience in welding, laser material processing, or metallography
In experimental work, you demonstrate a good analytical and structured way of working, bringing initiative and willingness to learn
In the team, you convince through reliability and careful work, contributing to a trusting collaboration
Good German and English skills in word and writing as well as confident handling of MS Office round off your profile, knowledge in evaluation of technical data is an advantage
