Internship in Traffic Planning, Modeling or Data Analysis - Karlsruhe (m/f/d)

Depending on your interests and previous knowledge, you will gain insight into exciting project work in one of our departments. Within the scope of our projects, depending on the department, you could be involved in the following activities, for example:

Traffic Planning & Engineering Department:

• Project tasks range from design sketches and measure development to signaling concepts and capacity analyses, as well as model-based and conceptual traffic planning.
• We process microscopic simulations and macroscopic models. We consider all modes of transport – individual traffic, public transport, as well as pedestrian and bicycle traffic.
• Our projects range from inner-city intersections to interconnected highway sections and the overall consideration of a city or region.

Public Transport Planning & Evaluation Department:

• We deal with the analysis, planning, and optimization of line networks for bus and rail. You can actively help shape mobility concepts, public transport concepts, and local transport plans.
• We conduct economic evaluations of public transport using cost-benefit analyses and standardized evaluations.
• We use and develop routines for evaluating key performance indicators in public transport and for preparing the results in appealing maps, graphics, charts, diagrams, and tables. For this, we use macroscopic traffic models in PTV Visum.

Traffic Survey & Data Management Department:

• Preparation and analysis of traffic data (SQL databases)
• Statistical projection
• Execution & supervision of survey projects
• Support in the conception, development, and realization of new methods for data collection based on AI-supported object recognition.

• You are enrolled as a student.
• You have an engineering, geographical, technical, economic, or social science background and are enthusiastic about the topic of transport/mobility.
• You have experience with MS Office.
• You enjoy independent and creative work and like to contribute your ideas.
• Ideally, you have an affinity for IT and logical-mathematical thinking skills.
• You have very good German language skills, both written and spoken.
