Internship "Corrosion Protection Layers for Bipolar Plates in Electrolyzers and Fuel Cells"
Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft · Freiburg im Breisgau · 39 hours a week
What you will do
Here you make a difference You support our group "Coating Technologies and Systems", which deals with coating technologies in hydrogen production through PEM electrolysis. Here, protective layers on the bipolar plates and the so-called porous transport layers (PTL) are required to prevent electrochemical corrosion of these components and minimize contact resistance. Together, we investigate different material classes for their electrochemical stability and further develop electrochemical measurement methods. To support our group "Coating Technologies and Systems", we are looking for a student for a mandatory internship at the earliest possible date for the following activities:
- You take care of the deposition of protective layers on titanium sheets and titanium fleeces by sputtering.
- You investigate the electrochemical stability of these layers in ex-situ corrosion tests.
- You evaluate the results.
What you need
What you bring
- You are studying materials science, chemistry, physics, electrical engineering, process engineering, engineering sciences, or a comparable field.
- It is important to you to contribute to your team and to achieve goals together in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- You work independently and with commitment.
