- Where you work
- At the company
- Language needed
- English and German
- Subject you study
- Engineering, Computational Engineering, Simulation Technology, Physics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering
What you'll do
- You develop and implement an innovative coupled finite element method (FEM)-peridynamics approach to model corrosion processes in our existing in-house software environment.
- On your own, you program, modularize and optimize the necessary interfaces and algorithms in Python.
- You formulate mathematical models for ion transport, electrochemical reactions at the metal surface and the movement of the corrosion front, and integrate them into the coupled solver.
- You validate the developed coupled model using analytical solutions, pure FEM calculations and corrosion experiments from the literature.
What you need
- Education: Master's studies in engineering, computational engineering, simulation technology, physics, materials science, chemical engineering or similar
- Experience and know-how: solid knowledge of solid mechanics and numerical simulation methods (FEM); very good Python programming skills (object-oriented programming, SciPy/NumPy)
- Personality and working style: you can proactively develop new ideas, find solutions independently and complete your tasks efficiently with high self-motivation
- Daily work: your on-site presence is required
- Languages: fluent English and good German
- Enrollment at a university
