- Language needed
- German and English
- Subject you study
- Medical Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Technical Computer Science
What you'll do
- You support us in analyzing existing calibration methods of different X-ray systems and structuring different processes and goals
- You help investigate the relationship between individual calibration steps and their effects on image processing and technical image quality features, for example detection and assessment of defective pixels and gain and offset corrections, etc.
- You support taking measurements on X-ray systems, experimentally recreating different calibration conditions, and analyzing relevant influencing factors such as temperature and assessing their effect on calibration results and technical image quality
- You assist in developing suitable measures and target values to objectively assess the quality and robustness of a detector calibration, and in evaluating measurement data with Python, comparing different calibration strategies and visualizing results
- You help examine calibration processes across the product lifecycle from manufacturing through system integration to service, identify options for simplification, harmonization or optimization, and examine how calibration processes can be made more efficient to reduce effort and costs while ensuring or improving calibration and image quality
What you need
- You are studying at least in the third semester of a bachelor's in medical engineering, physics, electrical engineering, technical computer science or a comparable science and engineering degree and are available long term
- You have good physical and technical understanding and are interested in understanding modern detector technologies in detail
- Knowledge of X-ray physics or X-ray detectors is an advantage
- You have experience with Python and enjoy analyzing and visualizing large measurement datasets
- You like working experimentally and are interested in taking measurements on real detectors
- You can not only evaluate measurement results but also want to interpret them based on the underlying physical and technical relationships
- Experience with X-ray detectors and image processing in a medical setting is useful
- Basic knowledge of AI methods is an advantage but not required
- You have very good German and English skills, spoken and written
- You work in a structured, analytical and independent way
- Interest in data analytics, machine learning or AI methods is a plus
