Previous Degree
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in a previous program in data science, computer science, mathematics, or a related field.
For admission via the Computer Science track:
At least 60 CP in Computer Science and at least 15 CP in Mathematics, including knowledge in the following areas:
1. Programming.
2. Software Engineering.
3. Databases.
4. And at least 2 of the following: Computer Networks, IT Security, and Distributed Systems.
For admission via the Mathematics track:
At least 75 CP in Mathematics and of which there may be 15 CP in Computer Science, including knowledge in the following areas:
1. Linear algebra.
2. (Multi-variate) analysis.
3. Programming skills.
The university may provisionally admit applicants whose bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification is pending at the time of application if they have accumulated at least 143 credits (79.5 %) in a degree program with a total of 180 credits, or at least 167 credits (79.5 %) in a degree program with a total of 210 credits, and if they are expected to complete their bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification no later than March 31 or September 30 of their first semester in the master’s program.
What to prepare for your application to Data Science
All copies of diplomas and certificates must be certified. Where originals are not issued in English or German, certified German or English translations must be included. Applications for admission must include the supporting documents listed below:
1. Bachelor's degree certificate or, if this is pending, a certificate listing the student’s achievements (with credits), the total number of credits earned and GPA to date, along with a list of all completed modules (e. g. Diploma Supplement, academic transcript, etc.).
2. Proof of subject-specific qualifications in the form of module descriptions, which must be submitted in the form of a written overview of no more than one page (A4 sized paper, Arial font, font size 10) with attached documents/copies. The applicant is responsible for proving that they have completed the required content in the respective fields.
3. Curriculum vitae.
4. Proof of English language proficiency (see language requirements).
