Specialization
Apart from the core curriculum students can chose individual focus areas by chosing and combining basics-oriented, application-oriented and specialization modules. Admission to the specific focus areas is limited. As a rule, the degree course can always be studied without chosing focus areas. What you need to apply for Psychology at Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU)
What to prepare for your application to Psychology
Your school-leaving certificate (this may in certain cases take the form of a listing of the subject grades achieved in your last year of school; if applicable, also an academic transcript and/or diploma from a university already attended) and a translation of these documents (into English or German). Translations are only accepted from accredited translators who are authorized to issue official translations in their respective home country. We accept documents in German and English.
-applicants for a Master's programme also need the complete Transcript of Records and the Bachelor's certificate as well as their translation (if applicable - we accept documents in English or German) by accredited translators (i.e., translators who are authorized to issue official translations in their respective home country).
-proof of your language proficiency (depending on your subject of study: German and/or English, or additional languages). If you do not yet have sufficient German language skills to apply, please apply for the "Deutschkurs/German language course" to take part in an intensive German language course to prepare you for your studies at JLU.

For admission to the Master degree programme Psychology the following preconditions must be met:
Completion of a subject-related course of study comprising a minimum of 6 semesters (with a total of 180 CP) leading to a Bachelor in Science (B.Sc.) in Psychology or an equivalent degree. A degree is subject-related and equivalent if it meets the following criteria:
1\. Psychological modules comprising at least 120 CP
2\. Internship/practical training in Experimental Psychology (at least 9 CP)
3\. Module(s) with examination in Psychological Methodology (at least 9 CP)
4\. Examination in Psychological Diagnostics (at least 6 CP)
5\. At least 4 modules (6 CP minimum each) including examinations in the following basic subjects:
General Psychology, Biological Psychology, Developmental Psychology, Differential / Personality Psychology, Social Psychology
6\. At least 2 modules including exams (minimum 6 CP) in psychologial practical subjects such as Clinical Psychology, Personnel and Organisational Psychology, Educational Psychology
7\. Empirical Bachelor's Thesis
The requirement for acceptance into the Master\`s course is a final mark of "good" or better.
The faculty board of examiners decides on admission to the Master degree course as well as on exceptions.
