What you need to apply for Financial Economics at Otto von Guericke University (OVGU) Magdeburg
Proof of English skills with one of the following options:
1. Written verification that a bachelor’s degree or university
diploma has been gained from a relevant study program taught
exclusively in English.
An official confirmation statement from the university is a strict
requirement (grade transcript, diploma, certificate...)
2. TOEFL: iBT 108 points or
IELTS: score 7.0 or
OvGU code: TOEFL 0183; IELTS: 0627.
3.At least 30 ECTS gained from English taught modules in a
German study program
A list of relevant modules including credit points and teaching language,
with a confirmation from the university is a strict requirement.
4. GMAT min. score 550 in total or
GRE min. score 148 in quantitative + 143 in verbal.
5. UNIcert III “English” certificate or higher.
Relevant bachelor's, diploma, or comparable degree with at least 140 ECTS (at the time of applying), and an average grade of 2.9 or better, determined from the examination results.

Due to the highly analytical, theoretical aspects of all of our master's programs, we require previous academic education in economics, business, advanced mathematics, and statistics for economists and managers with proof of a specific number of credits during your undergraduate degree. Please be informed that skills in quantitative methods (stochastics, econometrics, operations research, etc.) is a strict pre-condition for a successful study program. Decision about recognition of quantitative modules will be made by the examination board and follow strict regulations. Pre-courses are not offered and all applications should be the knowledge in maths, statistics, finance, and management of our bachelor's. Repeating courses can not be offered.
An undergraduate degree is considered relevant with (can be subject of changes):
a minimum of 60 credits /ECTS or 12 modules in economics, business administration plus 18 credits/ ECTS or 4 courses in/with quantitative modules for economists. Entry requirements1. Relevant bachelor's, diploma, or comparable degree with at least 140 ECTS (at the time of applying), and an average grade of 2.9 or better, determined from the examination results.
\- A study program is relevant if at least 60 ECTS (EU degrees) or 12 modules (non-EU) in economics, and at least 15 ECTS (EU degrees) or 4 modules (non-EU) in courses in the field of quantitative methods have been acquired.

\- Applicants who have obtained their bachelor's degree at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg do not have to prove the relevance of a completed undergraduate degree, as this information is already known to the faculty.
4\. Letter of motivation in English, containing no more than 450 words, which illustrates the professional and academic interest in the chosen master's program, presents the applicant's special skills and knowledge, and sets out personal expectations regarding the content, methods, and study processes of the chosen master's program.
