Information Systems (Wirtschaftsinformatik) at TUM in Garching is a full-time, four-semester Master of Science with 120 ECTS that is theory-based and practice-oriented in equal measure. Teaching is usually in English, with some courses possibly in German, and you can start in the winter or the summer semester. The discipline brings computer science and management together to design and analyse information systems in business and administration. You learn to develop software in different programming languages, manage large software projects, design large database and data warehouse infrastructures, and build skills in data analytics, business process management, algorithms and optimisation. The first three semesters cover process management, software engineering, databases, algorithms, machine learning and management, plus support electives, and the Master's thesis follows in the fourth semester. Graduates can aim for roles such as CIO, CTO, IT project manager or IT consultant.
