How to apply
What you need to apply for Master in Sustainable Management & Technology at Technical University of Munich (TU Munich - TUM)
For courses taught in English, you usually have to prove that you have sufficient knowledge of the English language.
To do this, upload recognized proof of your English language skills when applying online - depending on the type of language proof, your official test result, a copy of the notification or a screenshot from your online account at the institute where you submitted the language proof. It must contain all the information we need for verification . Only language certificates from the list below are recognized. Other language certificates are not recognized.
What to prepare for your application to Master in Sustainable Management & Technology
The first step is the application via our portal TUMonline. Our application wizard will guide you step by step through the online application procedure. If you apply for more than one degree program, please submit a separate application for each program.
After submitting the online application, you can view its status any time in your TUMonline account.
Please note: We can only consider your application if you upload all required documents and submit the complete application within the application period.
All documents required for admission have to be uploaded in PDF format to the online application form. Depending on the degree program, the required documents include:
Bachelor’s certificate and bachelor’s diploma. If you don’t have the required documents at the time of application, please provide your Transcript instead.
Transcript of records of at least 150 credits
your CV – please note that it has to be current and must not contain gaps. Feel free to use the template provided by the European Union.
your passport
where necessary, verification of language skills in German or English
Please note: It is not necessary to prove any knowledge of the German language at the time of application. However, as a foreign student, you are required to provide proof of basic German language proficiency (comparable to A1 level) by the end of the second semester.

where required, preliminary documentation by uni-assist (see Special Requirements for International Applicants). If you have applied for a VPD but it is not yet available, you can confirm the timely competion of the application for the VPD by submitting our form instead. Yo can then submit the final document as soon as you receive it.
You do not have to submit any hardcopies before your application is reviewed and you receive an offer of admission. Please upload all documents to TUMonline before the end of the application deadline. Documents submitted via email cannot be processed.
Documents issued in German or English need not be translated. Documents not issued in German or English must be translated by a sworn translator into either German or English. Please merge both the original and the translation and upload them as one PDF file.

The GMAT is recognized as proof of English language skills in some master’s programs at the TUM School of Management with a score of 600 or more. Information on this can be found in the subject examination regulations.
We would like to inform you that applicants with a Bachelor’s degree from China, Bangladesh, India, Egypt and Pakistan have to submit a GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) with at least 640 points with their application. Please find more information on the required GMAT Score for Master´s programs here. It is our primary goal to support students in the best possible way during their application process. If you have any questions or doubts regarding your application, please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be happy to assist you.
For applicants from other countries, the GMAT remains optional. However, depending on the GMAT score, additional points will be awarded at the first stage of the assessment procedure. The changes will apply for applications for the winter semester 2022/23 and onwards. Please find further information in the info sheet “How does the assessment procedure work?”
Furthermore, ranking certificates are not considered anymore. We use the overall grade for evaluating applications.
A GMAT (classic/focus) with at least a 53% percentile ranking will also be accepted as proof of English language proficiency.

Applicants must also provide proof of English language proficiency at the time of application.
In addition to accepted English language proficiency certificates across TUM study programs, applicants can demonstrate English proficiency through a previous university degree that was taught and assessed entirely in English or at least 12 ECTS thereof. The 12 ECTS can include courses and/or your final thesis. Please use this form only if the 12 ECTS rule applies to you. A GMAT (classic/focus) with at least a 53% percentile ranking will also be accepted as proof of English language proficiency.
It is not necessary to provide proof of German language knowledge at the time of application. However, we strongly recommend learning German!
