Key facts

Subject you study
Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science

What you'll do

  • As part of your bachelor's thesis you will work in the field of thermal energy storage and investigate the behavior of latent heat storage systems. You can expect an exciting time in which you will carry out a comprehensive material characterization of a binary phase change material and its pure substances in order to determine thermophysical and mechanical characteristic values such as density, thermal expansion or the modulus of elasticity. You will independently produce test specimens with different cooling methods, further develop test rigs and carry out the measurements and tests including evaluation independently. In this way you will make a significant contribution to creating a precise data basis for the later realistic modeling of thermomechanical stresses. In addition, you will uncover the dependence of material properties on the thermal history and the operating mode of the storage system.
