Questions about Carl Benz School of Engineering

The Carl Benz School in Karlsruhe offers a Mechanical Engineering programme taught entirely in English. Graduates receive a B.Sc. from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), study in compact classes of no more than 60 students taught by KIT lecturers, and can use KIT's facilities.

It is a three-year, six-semester Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, combining lectures, tutorials and lab courses. Admission needs a school-leaving certificate equivalent to the German Abitur, strong maths, physics and chemistry, English proof (TOEFL or IELTS) and an SAT score of at least 1,200.

The CBS College Program fee is 11,780 euros per semester for semesters 1 to 4 (or 2,000 euros in monthly payments), including housing, and 7,700 euros per semester for semesters 5 and 6. KIT fees come on top: 1,500 euros per semester for non-EU students and 184 euros for EU students.

Housing is part of the paid CBS College Program for the B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering: on-campus housing at the International Department Campus is included for semesters 1 to 4, in single or twin rooms. From semester 5, housing depends on availability and is charged separately.

The school estimates about 200 euros a month for food, 150 euros for personal expenses, 145 euros for German health insurance and up to 45 euros for public transport, since most students live centrally and walk or cycle.
