To register for the Master of Science course “Industrial Pharmacy”, the general requirements for
the admission are mandatory and in addition, the completion of an academically relevant study
course of at least 6 semesters successfully finished by second part of pharmacy state examination
(“Zweiter Abschnitt der Pharmazeutischen Prüfung”, Germany), a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)
degree in biology, chemistry, pharmacy or engineering or a comparable qualifying degree with a
grade of 2.5 or better (in German grading system, where 1.0 is the best grade).

4. In case you have not completed your bachelor program yet, an interim certificate with at least 80% of examination and study achievements has to be submitted instead. The total mark should be at least 2.5 according to the German system. The final grades for foreign applicants will be converted by the University Düsseldorf on the basis of the Modified Bavarian Formula. Please do not convert it yourself.

To register for the Master of Science course “Industrial Pharmacy”, the general requirements for
admission are mandatory and in addition, the completion of an academically relevant study

Academically relevant in the meaning of sentence 1 is a study course at a German university or
a university outside Germany which matches the following criteria:
1. at least 120 credit points were earned in pharmacy, thereof
2. at least 20 credit points in Pharmaceutical Chemistry,

3. at least 20 credit points in Pharmaceutical Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology,
4. at least 20 credit points in Pharmaceutical Technology/Biopharmaceutics
or
1. at least 120 credit points were earned in Engineering, thereof
2. at least 20 credit points in Basic Natural Sciences,
3. at least 20 credit points in Technical subjects,
4. at least 20 credit points Mathematics/Process Engineering
or
1. at least 120 credit points were earned in Biology, thereof
2. at least 20 credit points in Molecular Biology/Genetics,
3. at least 20 credit points in Biology/Biotechnology,
4. at least 20 credit points in Chemistry/Biochemistry
or
1. at least 120 credit points were earned in Chemistry, thereof
2. at least 20 credit points in Physical Chemistry,
3. at least 20 credit points in Organic Chemistry,
4. at least 20 credit points in Analytical Chemistry.
The decision, whether the study content of the fields provided in points 2 to 4 applies, will be
made by comparison of the submitted modules with those offered at the Heinrich Heine University for the related “Bachelor of Science” courses or the Pharmacy state examination course.
(2) In case of doubts on the equivalence of grades outside the scope of the German constitutional law (“Grundgesetz”), expertise on equivalence will be ordered from the Secretariate of the
Permanent Conference of the Ministers for Culture (“Sekretariat der ständigen Konferenz der
Kultusminister“) of the Federal Republic of Germany.
(3) Good knowledge in English language is required (§ 49.8 HG). Basic communication skills in
German language are not required, but highly recommended.
§ 4
Dates, Deadlines, and Documents
(1) The study course „Master-of-Science“ Industrial Pharmacy at the Heinrich Heine University
Düsseldorf can only be commenced in the fall semester of each year. The entry and admission
procedure takes place before the beginning of the fall semester.
(2) The entry application has to be submitted according to the announcements on the websites of
the Heinrich-Heine-University. The submission deadline is fixed according to the Regulation on
the Allocation of Study Places in North Rhine-Westphalia (“Verordnung über die Vergabe von

Studienplätzen in Nordrhein-Westfalen, VergabeVO NRW”). Application for admission is made
through the HHU application portal. The applicant has to submit the following documents:
1. Evidence for completion of the first qualifying study course according to § 3.1.
If there is no degree certificate according to § 3.1 at the time of application, a preliminary certificate has to be submitted containing the grades of the first five semesters, or in case of pharmacy
students from Germany the admission to the second part of the pharmaceutical examination
(“Pharmazeutische Prüfung”). The final degree certificate according to § 3.1 has to be submitted
until 30th September of the same year.
2. Confirmation for the study courses and results, e.g. provided as a Transcript of Records.
3. Confirmation for the filing of a Bachelor thesis. This is not required for pharmacy students
from Germany.
4. Evidence for sufficient language skills according to § 3.3:
language, are deemed as evidence. The Selection Committee uses a list of such countries.
Language Skills (“Ordnung über den Sprachnachweis gemäß § 49 Abs. 10 Hochschulgesetz
beim Zugang zum Studium an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf”) apply.
5. Where applicable, documents confirming an extraordinary hardship, e.g. disability certificate
or medical testimonial.
