Epidemiology is a Master of Science (M.Sc.) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, taught mainly in English with some German. It takes 4 semesters (120 ECTS), starts in the winter semester and has restricted admission plus a selection interview. It studies how diseases and healthy behaviour spread and why. The programme links several disciplines and trains you to plan studies on your own, collect and analyse health data safely, and interpret and publish the results. You also learn systematic reviews and meta-analyses, research budgets and grant applications, study protocols and statistical analysis plans, research ethics and risk communication. It suits you if you care about health policy, statistics and teamwork in research. Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in natural sciences, maths, computer science, social or health sciences with a grade of 3.0 or better, English at B2, and, without German schooling or a German-taught degree, German at DSH-2 by enrolment.
