How to apply
What you need to apply for Master of Science in Meteorology (research-oriented) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (JGU)
Applicants must provide a proof of English proficiency. There are several ways to do this.
1. High school diploma/secondary school-leaving certificate from an English-speaking institution
2. University degree in a study programme taught in English
3. German Abitur with appropriate English courses
4. First Certificate in English (University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations) or higher level (Advanced (CAE) oder Proficiency (CPE))
5. IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with a result of 5.5 or higher
6. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with a result of 213 (computer-based test (CBT)) or 79 (Internet-based test (IBT)) or 550 (paper-based test (PBT))
7. Telc English B2
Exemption is possible for native speakers.

An equivalent degree from a higher education institution in Germany or abroad. If the final grade of the bachelor’s degree is less than 3,0 (satisfactory) or if the first degree is not considered equivalent, the applicant may be invited to an interview. According to the Act on Higher Education of the Land of Rhineland-Palatinate, the examination committee decides if the applicant needs to provide proof of additional coursework before admission to the Master's program and if and to what extent examinations and coursework from a different field of study can be recognized as coursework and examinations for the related minor subject (see annex of the examination regulations). In order to be admitted to the program, the conditions have to be met during the first year of study.
If the degree is not yet finished or if the degree certificate according to section 1 subsection 1 is not yet available by the end of the application deadline, admission may be requested provided that the applicant submits proof of completed coursework and examinations equivalent to 135 credit points. What to prepare for your application to Master of Science in Meteorology (research-oriented)
1. Certificate of Recognition from JGU
2. the printed and signed copy of the online application
3.officially notarized copies of your school and university certificates
4.certificate of proficiency in the German language and, for some degree programs, certificate of proficiency in the English language
5.CV
6. The submission of a certified copy of the cover sheet and the table of contents of the thesis must be submitted.
7. In addition, you must present the back of the transcript, which indicates the grading system (maximum and minimum pass mark) of the respective university.
