Entry requirements

Admission requires completion of a bachelor's degree with a standard period of study of at least six semesters at a university or an equivalent qualification. Proof of at least one of the following subject areas must be provided:

• A share in the field of Turkology of at least 36 credit points (CP) or, in the case of a course of study without credit points, an equivalent scope of subject-related study and examination achievements.
• Linguistic, literary or historical studies with a bachelor's thesis on a Turkic topic.

Students are required to have good active and passive language skills in Turkish or another Turkish language, corresponding to at least level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Proof of this is provided:

• proof of native language skills (criteria include university admission or a degree from a university with the relevant language of instruction)
• proof of a degree with at least 36 credit points in the field of Turkology; in degree programs that do not carry credit points, an equivalent amount of such subject-related study and examination achievements must have been achieved
• have a corresponding language certificate
• The standard language of instruction is English. Students are expected to have good English language skills (equivalent to level B2), enabling them to actively participate in the courses and fluently read extensive specialist texts in this language.
