Philosophie (Philosophy) is a research-oriented Master of Arts at the University of Freiburg over 4 semesters with 120 credits, starting in the winter semester, offered in a German option and a German-French option. It lets philosophy graduates design individual study paths in theoretical philosophy, practical philosophy and the history of philosophy, with an emphasis on reading and critically interpreting key texts. Freiburg's focus areas include Arabic and transcultural philosophy, classical German philosophy, phenomenology, cultural philosophy and the philosophy of technology. You build judgement, independent work and communication skills, can gain teaching experience, and can go on to careers in publishing, journalism, foundations and consulting. You need a B.A. in philosophy, German at C1 and English at B2, plus French at B2 for the German-French option.
