What you need to apply for Labour Policies and Globalisation at University of Kassel

1.Bachelor degree or equivalent in economics, law, pedagogy or social sciences.

3.Knowledge of English language - equivalent to level B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF). If you choose to apply for the Double-Degree Programme with the University of Witwatersrand, please note that you need to have a C1\* level of English language proficiency (\*You need to have a C1 certificate according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEF)). For the initial application B2 is sufficient but you have to have C1 before starting the semester in South Africa.
4.Advanced knowledge on issues of labour relations and at least one year of practical experience in the representation of workers' interests.
5.A motivation letter (maximum 3 pages long) covering the following questions:
How are your previous qualifications and your prospective professional aims and aspirations related to the Labour Policies and Globalisation programme?
What is your experience and knowledge in the field of labour relations?
Which challenges do you see for trade union work in the context of a globalised economy?
Once you can prove that you have attended 600 or more hours of German lessons or have passed the B1 level exams, you can apply for a preparatory language course. This will prepare you for the DSH exam. You can take the exam once you have completed at least 1,000 hours of German lessons or have passed level C1 – this is possible at the University of Kassel too. What to prepare for your application to Labour Policies and Globalisation
1.An officially certified copy of your certificate confirming your higher education entrance qualification.
2.An officially certified copy of your first higher education degree that qualifies you for your profession (e.g. bachelor’s degree, Diplom I, state examination)
3. If Bachelor Degree certificate is not available at the time of application then at that time we submit following document:
a)Provisional subject and grade summaries for your current course and
b)the written confirmation of your performance in your studies, which must be completed and signed by your current examinations office.
Student must have already completed and passed at least 80% of the work needed to obtain degree at the time when they make application.

Starting from November 1st 2022, applicants possessing Indian academic qualifications, who wish to pursue Bachelor's or Master's degree in Germany have to have their certificates checked by the Academic Evaluation Center (APS, https://www.aps-india.de/) and to submit the certificate issued by the APS with other documents applying via uni assist. The APS certificate will also become mandatory for all student visa applications.
My certificate is not sufficient for a degree course.It is possible to attend the one-year preparatory college (Studienkolleg) at the University of Kassel. It prepares prospective students with foreign certificates to study at a German university. The preparation takes place through special courses that are geared towards the subject that the prospective students want to study at the university. You need proven German language skills at a B1 level for this. This involves at least 400 hours of German lessons.. At the end of a course, candidates at the preparatory college take an examination to determine whether they are suitable to study at a university. Students are enrolled at the University of Kassel during their time at the preparatory college. Please remember: you must first make an application via uni-assist and have received "conditional admission to the preparatory college”. uni-assist checks whether you meet the formal requirements for admission to study at the University of Kassel. You will receive the result after about 4-6 weeks by e-mail and by post. If the formal requirements are met, your data will be forwarded to the University of Kassel.
If you do not meet the formal requirements for admission, your documents will not be forwarded to the University of Kassel.
Procedure when the documents are available at the University of Kassel
The application will first be formally examined: Have all documents been submitted? Are the formal requirements met?
Upon completion of the formal examination, the application is forwarded to the examination board of your chosen degree programme.
In the next step, the examination board checks whether the substantive requirements for admission are also met. The examination board decides on the equivalence of the subject matter, the acknowledgement of previous performance, it decides on admission and rejection and, if necessary, imposes conditions regarding content.
The examination board reports the result back to the Master's Office digitally.
Should it be discovered in the course of the procedure that documents are missing, the applicants will be informed of this by email. The email will state the deadline for submission.
Depending on the Master's programme, it may take up to six weeks before you receive the result. Please refrain from making any enquiries during this period.

However, this close interaction in forms of guest lecturers, workshops and field trips involves financial expenditures and structural programme costs, which cannot be covered in total by the administrative semester fee. Thanks to a number of funding parties, we can cover most of these costs but, unfortunately, not all of it.For this reason, we charge every participant an own contribution of 1500 €. Traditionally, the one-time contribution of 1500 EUR is covered by the endorsing trade union or organization supporting the student's application.
