A bachelor’s degree in African Verbal and Visual Arts (Languages, Literatures, Media and Art) or Afrikanische Sprachen, Literaturen und Kunst from the University of Bayreuth with at least an ex-amination grade of “good” or an equivalent degree

[GERMAN](https://www.international-office.uni-bayreuth.de/en/come-...): level A1-As a rule, in addition to your knowledge of English, you must also prove your knowledge of German at the level A1 (e.g. with a Goethe or Unicert certificate). If you have no knowledge of German at the time of your application, you have the option of turning this in by the end of the 2nd semester.
Applicants should have an academic background in African Linguistics, African Literatures, Media in Africa, Curational Studies, or a related discipline.
You require at least a Bachelor grade point average of 2.5 or better (according to the German grading scale).
You must also have a sound command of written and spoken English (equivalent to B2+ European Framework of Reference for Languages).
This can be proven by certificates, degrees from an English tertiary institution, or BA theses written in English.
Commencing the AVVA programme is only possible for the winter term (October each year).
In addition, it is required to have some knowledge of German (level A1). This can also be obtained during the first year of studying in Bayreuth.
