As a rule, this involves English skills, which can be proven by a school leaving certificate or a foreign language certificate.
No German language certificates are required for English-language master's programs (the language of instruction is "English") , but basic knowledge is very advantageous.
Bachelor’s degree or comparable degree in art history, philosophy, ethnology, history, art pedagogics or archaeological sciences
The examination committee decides on admission to the programme. The applications documents must include the relevant records, a letter of motivation and a CV. The weighting given to the application documents is 55% for the grade of the Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, 25% for the one-page letter of motivation and 20% for the CV. The resulting overall rating must be at least 9,0 points.
Admission to the programme requires knowledge of Latin (language test of the Institut für Klassische Philologie of Goethe-Universität, equivalent knowledge/examinations or three years of instruction in Latin) and knowledge of two other modern languages (one of which must be English or French). The language skills may be proven by:
a) university entrance qualification (e.g. A-Levels) or
b) secondary school records, with marks not less than ”inadequate (4.0)” or 5 points or
c) certificates of successfully completed language courses at German or foreign universities with at least 120 hours of language classes or
d) expert reports or certificates of language skills acquired during study periods abroad, university language courses or in private studies or
e) certificates recognized as equal by the Institute for Classical Phililogy
Applicants with an international university entrance qualification and Bachelor's degree must prove sufficient German language skills (DSH-1)

Entering the data:
If you have successfully registered, please fill out the applicant data and educational history details; you can also view these at any time under "My Account".
You can then search for and select the degree program you want (up to three are possible). The selected course of study will then appear in your shopping cart (top right).
Call up your desired course of study via the shopping cart and fill out the online application by clicking on “Show further questions about the application (open mandatory questions)”.
Please make sure to answer or fill out all mandatory and relevant questions in all tabs. If you use the upload function, please check that the path to your documents is displayed correctly.
Please also check whether forms or information about the course of study are available for download and use them if necessary.
You can upload additional files if necessary under "My Applications" - "Documents". All documents that you have previously uploaded to the relevant questions do not need to be uploaded here again.
Completing the application:
If you have answered all (mandatory) questions and successfully uploaded all necessary documents, please click on "Proceed to checkout".
Once you have completed the payment process, the data can no longer be changed. Your application will then appear under “My Applications” in the application overview; the application has been submitted.
Additions and changes can then only be sent to uni-assist by email or post, stating the applicant number.
