ESSAY
All applicants will need to write and submit an essay regarding a specific topic as part of their application. Please submit your essay as a pdf soft copy (upload in TUM Online) as well as a hard copy with your other paper documents. Please refer to the Essay Information Sheet for all important information concerning the essay.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, please complete the application form online and make sure that you select Management as your preferred course of study. Click here for instructions.
Important: All applicants for a Master’s degree who did not obtain their qualification for postgraduate studies (usually a Bachelor’s degree) in a country within the EU/EEA have to apply via Uni-Assist in addition to TUMonline (please refer here for details). Please note that the Uni-Assist application needs to be completed before the end of the application period (May 31), however, the document that Uni-Assist will provide you with, can be handed it at a later date.
Once you have completed the online application form, you will receive a list of all additional paper documents that you will have to send to the main enrolment office (“Immatrikulationsamt”), along with a printout of your completed application form. All required paper documents need to arrive at TUM no later than the last day of the application period.
ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for the Master in Management, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree (requiring at least 6 semesters of study) or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering & Surveying, Architecture or equivalent) or Natural Sciences (Natural Sciences, Computer Science, Mathematics, Nutritional Science, Sports Science or other). A comprehensive list of all qualifying first-degree-disciplines are listed in the most-current statute, which can be found here (currently only available in German).
Proof of English language proficiency: Applicants must be able to prove that they are proficient in English at the time of application. Detailed information can be found here and on the info sheet. In addition to accepted English language proficiency certificates across TUM study programs, applicants can prove their English language knowledge if they have completed at least 12 ECTS (final thesis included) in subjects that were taught and assessed in English (proper verifications required, please refer to the FAQs for details).

For applicants from other countries, the GMAT remains optional. However, depending on the GMAT score, additional points will be awarded at the first stage of the assessment procedure. The changes will apply for applications for the winter semester 2022/23 and onwards. Please find further information in the info sheet “How does the assessment procedure work?”
Furthermore, ranking certificates are not considered anymore. We use the overall grade for evaluating applications.

If you have a prior degree in Industrial Engineering, you are not eligible to apply for this program. However, you may be eligible to apply for the Master in Management and Technology and/or Consumer Science.
A GMAT (classic/focus) with at least 53% percentile ranking will be accepted as proof of English language proficiency.
It is not necessary to prove any knowledge of German language at the time of application. However, as a foreign Student, you are required to provide proof of basic German language proficiency (comparable to A1 level). You should fulfill this by the end of the second semester.
Applications are fully online. Starting Summer Semester 2025, enrollment will be entirely online as well.
