What you need to apply for Molecular Plant Science at University of Hamburg

What to prepare for your application to Molecular Plant Science
For documents not issued in English or German, a certified English or German translation is
required.
1. Degree certificate or provisional Transcript of Records that shows ECTS for each module
and an overall/final grade
If you are still studying when you apply and cannot yet provide a final certificate
containing your grades, please submit your current Transcript of Records confirming your
provisional grade point average. You will then need to submit your degree certificate by
the end of the first semester of your master’s program.
2. Titel and Abstract (max 400 words) of your Bachelor Thesis
If you have not yet completed or started your bachelor thesis, please state the topic and a
brief description of the planned work
3. English language certificate
4. If applicable - a proof that practical courses were included in your program
5. If applicable - Proof of additional qualification, see selection criteria b to d below

Selection criteria
If the number of applicants exceeds the number of places available, a selection procedure will be
necessary: then student selection shall be made as follows:
a) Results of the first higher education degree
b) Participation in a university exchange program (e.g., Erasmus, DAAD)
c) Internships (at least 4 weeks) with a clear connection to the content of the master's degree
program in molecular plant science
d) At least 2 months' experience in a foreign country
Each of the activities completed in b) through d) will improve the grade of the first degree by 0.1.
Ranking shall be calculated based on the final grade resulting from the addition of the
aforementioned points.

University degree a) bachelor’ degree either in Biology , Molecular Life Sciences or Biochemistry in Germany. b) Any other bachelor’s degree, provided 1. Biology and Biochemistry 70 credit points (ECTS) of which 20 LP in university laboratory practicals (in molecular biology or/and biochemistry).
2\. A scientific experimental research project in the field of molecular biology as a final thesis of at least 6LP. All this information must be evident from the submitted documentation. Where necessary, Applicants may submit a separate letter detailing this information. Please note: Usually, bachelor's degrees in pharmacy do not fulfil these conditions! If you have not received your degree certificate yet, you can submit this by the end of the first semester of your master’s program.

Recognition of transcripts for degree programs completed at foreign higher education institutions If you obtained your first degree abroad, your certificate will be reviewed during the application procedure in the faculty of your program. If your degree certificate is not in English or German, please include a copy of a certified English or German translation of the certificate with your application documents.
