Application documents to be submitted
Please submit all documents as uncertified copies. For documents not issued in German or English, a translation by an officially sworn translator into German or English is also required.
If you are still studying at the time of application and cannot provide a degree certificate with a grade, please submit a current transcript of records with a provisional average grade. The degree certificate must be submitted by the end of the first semester of your master's program.

The prerequisite for admission to the Master's program in Sign Languages is a first professionally qualifying university degree from a German or internationally recognized foreign university in the subjects of sign languages, sign language interpreting, Deaf Studies or a number of at least 60 credit points in one of the aforementioned subjects if you have a university degree (or equivalent achievements) in another subject.
As a special arrangement, admission is possible upon proof of a first professional university degree from a German or internationally recognized foreign university in another subject, combined with evidence of at least 100 hours of sign language courses and a letter/portfolio outlining the motivation for choosing this degree program. Proof of sign language proficiency at the specified level is not required for native speakers.
Recognition of Degree Certificates Obtained Abroad
For applicants who have completed their first degree abroad, the recognition of a degree certificate obtained abroad will be processed as part of the faculty's application process.
German Language Proficiency
All applicants who have not completed their first degree at a German-speaking university must provide proof of sufficient German language proficiency for enrollment (but not for application).
