How to apply
What you need to apply for International Master Biology at University of Regensburg
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) with at least 79 points; Information on the test at www.ets.org/toefl (TOEFL code number of the UR = 0401)
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) with at least level 6.5; Information about the test at www.ielts.org .
Applicants with a degree from a non-German speaking institute have to proof basic German language skills.
This can be provided by a German language course (minimum of 120 hours) or by proof of a German language level of A1 (GER, common European frame of reference).
If the proof of basic German language skills cannot be presented by the deadline of application you can still apply.
Please note, module examinations can only be successfully completed when the matriculation is definitive.
If you are accepted to the program the proof has to be provided by the end of the first year after you have started the program.
If the proof cannot be presented by the end of the first year, you will be de-registered.

If the minimum overall grade of 2.5 is not achieved , an oral entrance examination (aptitude test) has to be passed. Information on the test see below!
If the bachelor certificate cannot be present by the application deadline , a transcript of records with a minimum of 150 credit points , showing the preliminary overall grade, has to be presented.
If the bachelor certificate cannot be presented by the registration deadline , a preliminary registration (matriculation) is possible. If the documents cannot be presented by the end of the first semester, an automated exmatriculation is initiated. For continuation of the study, a new application is necessary with the required documents presented by the application deadline.
If the bachelor certificate can not be submitted by the application deadline , a transcript of records with a minimum of 150 credit points , has been submitted to the preliminary overall grade.

The qualification for the master program is given by:
1. a university degree or comparable degree with a minimum of a three year study program of bachelor biology (or a related subject\*) with a minimum overall grade of 2,5 (german grading system)
\* Please note: Following subjects are not related to "Biology" and are not qualified: Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Medicine

What to prepare for your application to International Master Biology
1. application form for admission ( download here ) Please note! The second choice of desired subject of study will not be considered. For each desired subject of study a separate application for admission has been submitted to and from the faculty.
2. cover letter with date, current postal address and signature
3. curriculum vitae
4. proof of English language skills , level B2
5. proof of German language skills ; German language course (minimum of 120 hours) or proof of German language level A1 (GER, common European frame of reference).
6. High school certificate
if available: university admission examination
7. copy of passport / identity card
8. APS certificate (original) for applicants with a Bachelor Degree from China, Vietnam or Mongolia
9. Bachelor Biology Certificate or related subject showing the final grade (certified copy translated in English or German)
if the bachelor certificate can not be submitted by the application deadline, a transcript of records with a minimum of 150 credit points, showing the preliminary overall grade , has to be presented (certified in English or German).

11. proof of completion of a written thesis (project or bachelor thesis)
!!! module catalog or any other document showing the contents of the courses (translated in English). The module catalog has to be an official document in English.

There are no tuition fees for international students at the University of Regensburg.
Depending on your field of study, you will have to reckon with certain material expenses for books, etc.
In addition, you have to pay the so-called "Semesterbeitrag" (semester fee) of €198 (as of SoSe 25) every semester at the university. This fee includes a semester ticket . This allows you to use all buses in the city area and within the zones of the Verkehrsverbund RVV (including trains).
