Still open on 1 NovWhat you'll do
- You will develop a uniform evaluation matrix taking into account space framework conditions (e.g., number of media changes, degree of process automation, maturity level of sub-processes in the space context such as microfluidics or bioreactors), thereby separating common core operations from product-specific special operations.
- You will conduct a gap analysis that identifies existing technological, infrastructural, and regulatory gaps between current terrestrial ATMP production and a potential application in space, and derive recommendations for action on which technologies/competencies are missing in Europe.
- Knowledge Base Report in English.
What you need
- You are studying biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, pharmaceutical engineering, medical engineering, process engineering, or a comparable degree program at a university/higher education institution in Germany/within Europe.
- You are interested in cell and gene therapies (ATMPs) and their manufacturing processes.
- You work in a structured, analytical, and independent manner and enjoy interdisciplinary, forward-looking questions.
- You have a good command of German and English.
- Ideally, you have initial knowledge in the analysis and evaluation of processes.
What you get
- Insights into the project work of an interdisciplinary research team in cooperation with the European Space Agency (ESA).
- An exciting, forward-looking question at the interface of biopharmaceuticals, production technology, and space medicine.
- Intensive supervision by our team.
- Insights into a modern research environment at the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Engineering and Automation IPA, Department of Pharmaceutical and Bioproduction Technology.
- The opportunity to contribute to a highly innovative topic and integrate your results into ongoing research activities.
- Flexible arrangement of working hours and workplace.
