- Pay
- Unpaid thesis; possible paid student assistant role up to TVöD E5
- Language needed
- German and English
- Subject you study
- Physics, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems Engineering
What you'll do
- You assemble diode lasers from provided components and characterize them. The diode lasers shall deliver light with wavelengths of 935 nm and 780 nm.
- You continuously optimize and develop the stray light method and the coupling loss method for characterizing intrinsic losses of optical waveguides.
- You determine the intrinsic losses of in-situ manufactured optical waveguides.
- You develop a program for controlling the individual components and for the automated execution of the aforementioned experiments.
- You take over the further development of our control software.
What you need
- Student in a scientific university degree program (Bachelor or Master) in natural sciences (e.g., physics, chemistry) or engineering sciences (e.g., electrical engineering, information systems engineering) or other degree programs relevant to the activity
- First knowledge in microsystems technology, atomic, molecular or laser physics, and in creating a graphical user interface in Python or LabVIEW
What you get
- DLR stands for diversity, appreciation, and equality for all people. We promote independent work and the individual development of our employees in their personal and professional environment. For this purpose, our numerous training and further education opportunities are available. Equal opportunities are a particular concern for us; we therefore want to increase the proportion of women in science and management. Applications from severely disabled persons are given preference in case of professional suitability.
