Application Form
(1) The application for admission must be submitted via the Aalen University online system or using the form provided by Aalen University.
(2) The following documents must be attached to the application:
a) An officially certified copy of a university degree certificate qualifying for a profession in accordance with Section 8 (1),
b) An officially certified copy of a higher education entrance qualification certificate (HZB),
c) An officially certified copy of a language proficiency certificate in accordance with Section 8 (3),
d) A letter of motivation for the Research Master's program (max. 1 page DIN A4),
e) A tabular CV (max. 2 pages DIN A4)
3) If the documents attached to the application are not in German or English,
an officially certified German or English translation must also be enclosed.
(4) The university may require that the original documents underlying the admission decision be submitted upon enrollment.
(5) The following documents must be submitted to Aalen University by the end of the enrollment deadline specified in the admission letter:
a) Acceptance section of the application for admission or other declaration of acceptance
b) Signed enrollment application with declaration of enrollment
c) Notification of health insurance
d) Passport photograph
e) Proof of payment of the student union contribution and other fees and charges due in connection with the studies (Section 60 (2) No. 8 of the State Higher Education Act (LHG)
(6) The Admissions Office of Aalen University may request additional documents.
Applicants whose native language is not German or English must provide proof of the required German or English language skills with their application. Proof of German proficiency is provided by the German Language Examination for University Entrance (DSH) with a minimum score of DSH-2, the Test of German as a Foreign Language (TestDaF) with an average score of at least level 4, or the Central Advanced Level Examination (ZOP) of the Goethe Institute. For other language certificates, the selection committee will decide on their equivalence. Proof of English proficiency is provided by the TOEIC test with a minimum score of 800, the TOEFL test with a minimum score of 570 (paper-based), or an equivalent test (score conversion is based on the table available at the university's language center).

The Studienkolleg keeps all the documents in your application file. So please do not send us originals. Even if you are applying to several universities you only need to file one single application. To apply, foreign students must provide proof of an initial professional certificate in a discipline required for the desired course of study, which has been converted in accordance with the legal requirements by the Foreigners' Studies College in Konstanz. This converted certificate must be submitted to Aalen University by the application deadline for the respective course of study at the latest.
