Applied research in engineering sciences

Qualification requirements for admission to the Master's degree programmes at our university are:

• Successful completion of a relevant university degree; the required overall grade as well as further course-specific requirements can be found on the [page of the respective degree programme](https://www.th-ab.de/studium/vor-dem-studium/studiengaeng...)
• Language skills: The language skills required for the course of study must be fulfilled; this applies to prospective students with foreign educational qualifications as well as for the English-language courses

A specialisation in the directions of mechatronics, electrical and information technology, applied computer science, renewable energies, digital medical technology or materials sciences can be selected.German-speaking courses

For German-language courses, the following language examinations to prove level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languageform Studies are recognised in particular:

• Certificate of the German language examination for university admission with a result of level 1
• Test German as a foreign language (TestDaF) with a result that shows the TestDaF level 3 in all four sub-examinations
• Certificate of the examination to determine the aptitude of foreign applicants for the start of studying at universities in the Federal Republic of Germany (deadline audit)
• German Language Diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs, second level (DSD II)
• Goethe-Zertifikat Level B2
• Certificate of the German Language Examination II (DSP II) of the Sprachen & Interpreter Institute Munich (SDI)
• telc test level B2

Deviating from this, midwifery, master's degree programme in Economics and Law and Master's degree programme in Real Estate Management German language skills are required at C1 level (as of winter semester 2023/2024). The following C1 details are recognised:

• German Language Diploma of the Conference of Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs - Second stage
• German language examination for university admission (DSH) with a result of the level 2
• Test German as a foreign language (TestDaF): For the courses of study of the Faculty of Business and Law, the result must show the TestDaF level 4 in all four sub-exams, and for engineering science and computer science courses level 3 is sufficient in all sub-exams
• The certificate of the examination to determine the eligibility of foreign applicants for the admission of a degree programme at universities in the Federal Republic of Germany (determining examination)
• Proof of German language skills that have been recognised by bilateral agreements or other agreements made by KMK or HRK as a sufficient proficiency of university proficiency
• The Great and the Small German Language Diploma, the Certificate of the Central Upper Level Examination (ZOP) and the Goethe-Institut C1 and C2 certificate
• telc exam German C1 Hochschule
• The "German Language Examination II" of the Language and Interpreting Institute Munich
• Assessment of a Studienkolleg
• Completed study of German studies
• Medium educational qualification acquired at a German school in Germany
• Completed German-language studies at a university in Germany

English-language courses

In addition to evidence of German Germans, B2 knowledge of English is required for English-language courses.

The German level A1 can be proven by

• Goethe certificate level A1
• telc certificate level A1

English B2 level can be proven by

• IELTS min. 5.5
• TOEFL iBT min. 72 points
• Cambridge First Certificate in English (FCE) respectively. B2 First, min. Grade C
• Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) and C1 Advanced, min. Level B2
• PTE Academic mind. 59 points
• telc English level B2
• Oxford Test of English mind. 111 points
• The proof is also considered to have been provided if a successful completion of an English-language education at a higher school or university is proven or if the native language is English.

If you apply with a language certificate that is not listed here or does not show the required level, your language certificate must first be checked after your application.

The following applies to applications with a German school leaving qualification:

• if the certificate of the general university entrance qualifies at least the grade "sufficient" in the continued foreign language (i.e. in the first or second foreign language of the grammar school or at the corresponding level of another school way leading to the general university entrance qualification) or
• if the certificate of the university entrance qualification of a public or state-recognised technical secondary school or Vocational school at least shows the grade "sufficient" in the language concerned.
• Alternatively, level B2 can also be proven by another official document.
