What you need to apply for Resource Efficiency in Architecture and Planning (REAP) at HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU Hamburg)
1. TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): min. 570 points (paper-based), 230 points (computer-based) or 88 points (Internet-based)
2. IELTS (International English Language Testing System): min. 7
3. CAE (Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English): min. grade B
CPE (Certificate of Proficiency in English): min. grade C
TELC: min. C1.
Note: You do not have to pass an English language test, if one of the following conditions apply to you. In this case, you have to submit instead of an English language test:
a. A certification that the instruction language of your previous studies
at least four semesters – was English
b. A certification that you attended a school of general education of at
least five years where the English language was used as the medium
of instruction
c. A certification that you have had a professional and subject-related stay abroad of at least one year in a country where the official language is English
In order to be prepared for German everyday life and to work in Germany if so desired, REAP students may attend German language courses at different levels at the HafenCity University Hamburg.

Applicants with a Non-German higher education entrance qualification or with a Non-German first academic degree have to prove sufficient German language skills in the course of the application process.
A certificate of a completed first professional university degree entitles you to study for the HCU's Master's degree programs.
If the result of your first professional university degree is not available by the application deadline, a transcript of records from the university where the first professional university degree was obtained must be attached to the application for admission to the course, showing the grade point average and a performance level of at least 130 CP's . HCU internal applicants can print out their performance overview from their ahoi account.
When starting the Master's degree, the number of outstanding examinations should not exceed 15 CP's. When applying for enrollment, you must submit a declaration that you will successfully complete your Bachelor's degree during the first semester of the Master's degree.
Please note that all examinations, including the Bachelor's thesis, must be successfully completed by the end of the first semester of the Master's degree program. Proof of successful completion must be submitted by the 15th of the second month of the second semester of the Master's degree program. If the degree is not obtained on time, the student will be exmatriculated or, in the case of HCU internal students, demoted to the previous Bachelor's degree program.
For your application to HafenCity University (HCU) you need recognition from the Office and Service Center for International Study Applications (uni-assist eV).
The core task of uni-assist is the evaluation of international certificates. Uni-assist checks whether the certificates submitted are equivalent to German school or university degrees and generally entitle you to study in Germany. In addition, uni-assist checks whether you can also prove that you have sufficient language skills. Uni-assist forwards your test results to the HCU in electronic form.

Applicants with a non-German university degree have to apply via uni-assist and the ahoi application portal of the HafenCity University.
First step:
You can submit your application at uni-assist starting from 1 March each year for the following winter semester. Uni-assist needs up to six weeks for checking the certificates. Therefore, we recommend that applicants submit the documents at uni-assist early enough to keep the application deadline of the HCU in our ahoi portal, which is 15 July for the following winter semester.
Second step:
In addition, all applicants have to apply directly at HCU via the ahoi online application portal (1 June - 15 July): https://www.hcu-hamburg.de/en/sv/for-prospective-students
You will inform by email about the result of your application. Your admission or rejection letter will be available in your ahoi-account under the menu item "Documents".
In the case of an admission you will find the enrollment application and the notification of semester tuition in your ahoi account under the menue item "documents". You will find the deadline to accept the study place on your admission letter. More information about the admission and enrollment you will find here.
Please make sure that your access data are available.
Note:
Please save the admission or rejection letter on your private computer. Your application account will be deleted after the ending of the application procedure. The admission letter wouldn't be available any longer and can't be recreated. In some cases the admission letter will be required from different authorities (for example: family benefits department).
