How to apply
What you need to apply for Commercial Vehicle Technology (CVT) at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau
Proof of English Proficiency (TOEFL 213 computer-based, 550 paper-based, 80 internet-based; IELTS 6,0 or equivalent). In the case of a previous completely English-speaking Bachelor study, we may not need a language certificate. However, this must be indicated in the application process and noted on the certificate.
As a precondition for application, you must have a minimum German proficiency level of A2. To understand a lecture given in German you must have a minimum proficiency level of B2 (a level of C1 is best.) The university offers German language courses to improve your language proficiency. The first course is included in the August orientation course. Subsequent courses are provided as evening courses during both the winter and summer semesters. After the first semester, you should have reached the minimum level of B2 to take elective subjects in German.

You could try applying without your final transcript but we cannot guarantee you an admission since it depends on the admission committee in the department.
As an international program approx. 50% of the lectures are held in English (mainly all mandatory subjects in first and second semester, German mainly third and fourth semester) thus knowledge of German (Level A2) is required for admission. The A2 German certificate has to be submitted together with all other documents needed for the application before deadline!
For the application, English proficiency has to be proved by IELTS or TOEFL (213 computer-based, 550 paper-based, 80 internet-based) or other internationally recognized tests. We offer a preparatory orientation course including an advanced German language course to improve your German starting 1st of August every year. Participation in the orientation course with the included language course is strongly recommended. Without the participation you will miss the introduction week with many offers for the students. In addition to the professional training, this is also about getting to know the staff, other students and the university. Our experience shows that participation in the course is necessary for successful completion of the master program.
