About the programme
Digital Process Engineering (DPE) is a four-semester Master of Science at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau, taught mainly in English as a full-time, face-to-face programme in Kaiserslautern worth 120 ECTS, with a start in the winter or summer semester. It is aimed at graduates in chemical and process engineering or environmental process engineering with a strong interest in solving process engineering problems digitally. Its basis is chemical process engineering, the transformation of raw materials and energy into products through chemical, mechanical and biological processes. Bridging modules, chosen with a mentor, bring students from different backgrounds to a common level. Compulsory computer science modules lay foundations in scientific computing, visualisation and machine learning, and a modelling, simulation and optimisation project applies programming to process engineering. You choose two of four focus areas: bioprocess, fluid process or particle process engineering, or thermodynamics. A one-semester master's thesis concludes the programme.
