Motivation letter explaining why you have chosen the Master programme and a specific elective track (see guidelines). Please write the motivation letter in English if you apply for an English taught elective track and in German if you apply for a German taught elective track.
Curriculum vitae (in table form)
Officially authenticated copy of your bachelor certificate or your first university degree certificate (translated into German or English). If you don´t have a certificate yet, you have the following options:
Option 1: You have already completed your studies, but the certificate has not yet been issued → Confirmation from the university that you have completed your studies, with the overall grade. The certified copy of the certificate must be presented at the time of enrollment;
Option 2: You have not finished your studies yet → In this case, you can only apply if you have achieved at least 150 ECTS points at the application deadline. Please attach the following documents as officially authenticated copy or orginial:
Certified current transcript of records (including grades and ECTS credits)
Current average score (calculated by the Examination Office)
If the Bachelor's thesis has not yet been graded or submitted, confirmation of delivery or registration is required.
Officially authenticated copy of your transcript of records of your first university degree
Officially authenticated copy of your language certificate depending on the elective track:
German elective track: an officially authenticated copy of your recognized German language certificate of the level C1 (CEFR) – normally the “German Language Test for Higher Education for Foreign Students" / DSH (with the result DSH-2) or a TESTDaF certificate (niveau test DaF 4). Language course certificates are not accepted. Native speakers are exempted. Furthermore you need an officially authenticated copy of your recognized English language certificate, which certifies the level B2 of the CEFR. Note for German applicants: if you have taken English as a foreign language up to the Abitur, then the Abitur certificate is sufficient proof. The recognzied English certificates are listed below.
English elective track: an officially authenticated copy of your recognized English language certificate, which certifies the level C1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (e.g., TOEFL itb 95, IELTS band 7.0, Pearson PTE Academic 76, Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English). Language course certificates are not accepted. Native speaker are exempted. If the bachelor was held in English, a letter of the university which confirms English as "Medium of Instruction" is sufficient
If available: Certificates of vocational education, practical experiences (longer than 3 months) and stays abroad (longer than 6 months) as copy
For applicants from China, Vietnam and Mongolia: APS certificate (proof of authenticity of certificates).
