How to Prepare for the dMAT: A Practical Plan

Start as soon as you know the dMAT applies to you. Read the official instructions first, complete one practice run each day, review every wrong answer, and finish both full mock tests before the real test on 26 September 2026.

The simple plan

  1. 1. Read the official booklet.
  2. 2. Complete one practice run daily.
  3. 3. Review every wrong answer.
  4. 4. Finish both full mocks.

A four-step preparation plan

The official dMAT site recommends using all its available materials because the live test gives only short reminders, not the full instructions. See the official preparation page.

  1. Read the official instructions first

Learn how Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations, Latin Squares and the General Academic Module work before you try to answer quickly.

  2. Complete one practice run each day

Use one focused run for a Core section, then read the explanation for every wrong answer.

  3. Finish both full mocks

Complete both full mock tests before the real test. Follow the official module order and use the planned break.

  4. Check the final booking information

g.a.s.t. puts the test location, time and meeting point in your participant portal about five days before the test.

Download the dMAT preparation guides

Read the official General Academic Module booklet before your first full mock. The registration guide shows the booking screens.

The dMAT is run by g.a.s.t. / TestDaF Institute. Always confirm dates, centres and fees on d-mat.de before you book.

When should you start?

Start when you confirm that the dMAT applies to you. The current India test is on 26 September 2026, so do not wait for the 15 September 2026 registration deadline to begin learning the task format.

Use the last full mock as a check

Complete it before test day, then review the questions you got wrong. Do not use the practice percentage as an official 0 to 200 score.
