No. For Master's programmes, international students apply directly to the University of Bremen. The uni-assist VPD route described on the same page is for undergraduate programmes.

You apply online in the moin portal. You can apply for only one Master's programme at a time, and the portal opens about 6 weeks before the deadline. An application is valid only for the current semester, so a later start needs a new application.

For the first semester, the deadlines in the University of Bremen's master's portal apply, and the portal shows whether a programme starts in the winter or the summer semester. The detailed admission requirements are listed there too.

The admission regulations of each Master's programme set the documents. At the time of application you usually need a current transcript of records, your graduation certificate if you already have it, a CV in table form and a letter of motivation. Programmes may ask for more, such as language certificates or proof of professional experience. Bachelor's students do not yet need to submit their degree certificate when they apply.

For some programmes, a Z in the Master's overview shows that places are limited and a selection process takes place. In programmes without a Z, Bachelor's graduates get a place if they meet the requirements. A selection committee checks, for example, whether your Bachelor's subject fits the Master's.

For a regular study semester in the winter semester 2026/27 the semester fee is 443.40 EUR: 130.00 EUR Studierendenwerk, 21.00 EUR AStA, 226.80 EUR Deutschlandsemesterticket, 2.60 EUR culture ticket and a 63.00 EUR administrative fee. On leave or abroad without the semester ticket it is 216.60 EUR, and you can apply to be exempted from the ticket up to two weeks after lectures start. Continuing students pay by 15 August for the winter semester and 15 February for the summer semester.

The Studierendenwerk Bremen has 2,139 housing units in Bremen across its student housing complexes. All rooms and flats are furnished, and the flat-rate rent means no extra charges for operating costs.
