About the programme
Data Science at Bielefeld University is a four-semester Master of Science taught completely in English, and you can only start in the winter semester. It helps you consolidate and deepen your knowledge of statistics and information technology at a demanding level. Classical statistical methods, programming, database systems and machine learning form the methods core. Practical courses, for example in statistical consulting and business analytics, a research colloquium and courses on ethical, legal and social impacts complete the programme. Because students arrive with different first degrees, you start with a foundation phase of introductory modules suited to your background, followed by a profile phase. Under certain conditions internships can earn credit points, and you write your Master's thesis on a data science topic. It suits graduates from different fields who want to work at a demanding level with statistics and IT.
