We require proof of completion of a specific Bachelor's degree programme in "Business Mathematics" or a relevant Bachelor's degree programme in the field of "Mathematics" or proof of a comparable domestic or foreign university degree that qualifies students for a profession.
Students with a Bachelor's degree in "Business Mathematics" or "Mathematics" and a degree in "Mathematics" as a teaching profession at a secondary school (First State Examination or Master's degree) are eligible for admission. A Bachelor's degree in another discipline qualifies for admission if qualifications in business mathematics disciplines amounting to at least 90 credit points (CP) have been acquired as part of the completed degree program or another degree program.
This must include at least 60 ECTS credits that demonstrate competencies from subjects that can be found in the subject spectrum of the study areas Mathematics Basic Modules, Mathematics Advanced Modules and Free Compulsory Elective Modules of the Bachelor's degree program “Business Mathematics” at Philipps-Universität Marburg. In particular, students should have acquired skills from theory-based (proof-based) lectures in Linear Algebra I, Linear Algebra II, Analysis I and Analysis II as well as skills from abstract measure and integration theory. Furthermore, at least 18 CP must have been completed in business and economics modules.
At least 18 credits in business administration and economics modules should also have been completed.
The Examination Committee may link admission to the condition that additional coursework and/or examinations totalling a maximum of 30 CP be completed. In such cases, the degree programme may be prolonged accordingly. The required competencies in business and economics modules (18 CP) may not be provided by such requirements.

What to prepare for your application to Business Mathematics
The university entrance qualification (if from abroad): This certificate entitles you to study in Germany. This is usually the school leaving certificate (e.g. Abitur certificate). If your school certificate does not entitle you directly to study in Germany, please upload the certificate of the assessment test at a preparatory college or a university entrance test.
The university degree certificate: This document proves the successful completion of your studies. If you are not sure whether your university degree matches your desired master’s degree in terms of content or topic, please contact the subject advisory service.
What do I do if I haven't finished my studies yet?
Your university degree certificate is often not available by the application deadline. In this case, you can apply with a transcript of records and a calculated average grade based on at least 80% of the credit points required for the degree. In the event of admission, enrollment is subject to the condition that the outstanding work must be completed before the start of the master's program (deadline: March 31st for the start of the summer semester or deadline: September 30th for the start of the winter semester). With your university degree certificate, you can prove that you passed the exam in time after enrollment. You will be informed of the deadline for submitting the university degree certificate in the notification of admission. As a rule, the submission deadline is in June for the start of studies for the summer semester and in December for the start of studies for the winter semester.
Note to Marburg graduates: Please make sure that your transcript of records shows the average grade and the grading system used (overall grade calculation). You can download the complete Transcript of Records yourself after logging into Marvin via the menu items "My Studies" > "Achievements". Alternatively, the overall grade calculation can also be found in the study and examination regulations for your degree program.
Special features of a degree from abroad: Please check whether your university is recognized in Germany (status: H+) and whether your degree is equivalent to the undergraduate courses offered in Germany. You can find the relevant information on the Anabin website.
The Transcript of Records: This document serves as proof of the content of your studies. If your university system does not have a transcript of records, please send a comparable document listing the course content you have completed.
Proof of course-specific knowledge and skills (if required): In most cases, this is proof of language skills. You can find out how to prove your language skills on the university language certificates website. Proof of other course-specific knowledge and skills is provided by appropriate certificates.
Documents for the EFV (if required): Additional documents are required for degree programs with EFV (e.g. curriculum vitae, letter of suitability or letter of expectations). You can find more information on the relevant course website.
