How to apply
What you need to apply for Chemical Engineering at Ulm University
Language skills at level C 1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) are required for the master's degree programs in Chemical Engineering and Energy Science and Technology . This is to be fulfilled by one of the following language certificates:
University degree in a course with only English as the language of instruction
7.0 points or better in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS), if the number of points and the GER level are given at the same time, the higher language level will be recognized
Certificate in C 1 Advanced English or Certificate C 2 Proficiency in English at the Cambridge exam
490 (listening), 455 (reading), 200 (speaking) and 200 (writing) points or better in the Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC)
95 points or better in the Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based (TOEFL iBT)
Level III or Level IV at UNIcert®
PTE Academic, with a score of 76 or better
GER C 1 level or higher shown on the university entrance qualification. A language proficiency level that is partly at GER C1 level and lower will not be recognized.
Be willing to acquire a basic knowledge of German. German courses are part of the curriculum.

What to prepare for your application to Chemical Engineering

Bachelor's degree diploma (certificate) with final grade as well as overview of subjects and grades / transcript of records with credit points / Diploma Supplement (if available)
If you have not yet completed your higher education degree: overview of subjects and grades/transcript of records issued by the higher education institution with the provisional average grade of the previous study and examination achievements up to the time of submission of the application
Proof of study and examination achievements of basic competences in the areas of chemical, thermal and mechanical process engineering as well as knowledge of the application of process engineering concepts to selected problems
Proof of a thesis or comparable achievement corresponding to 6 ECTS credits
Form for the subject-specific additional information (xlsx) - explanatory notes
Poof of English language proficiency at level B2 CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
In the case of a higher education degree from China, India or Vietnam: APS certificate or APS confirmation.
In the case of a foreign higher education degree: grading scale of the degree programme with indication of the lowest passing grade and maximum grade for the degree, to be shown on the bachelor's degree diploma/bachelor's degree certificate or on an official document of the higher education institution.
If proofs and documents to be submitted are not written in German or English, additionally an official translation into German or English is required
For applicants who do not come from an EU country or the European Economic Area and have a German higher education entrance qualification (“Abitur”): proof of higher education entrance qualification

All required application documents as well as the payment must be received by uni-assist before the application deadline.
If the overall grade of the bachelor's degree or if no degree has yet been awarded, the average grade in all examination results completed by the application deadline is not achieved with a grade of 2.5 or better, the aptitude for the master's programme in Chemical Engineering must be proven in a selection interview. The selection interview is conducted in English.
There is no selection interview if the required grade 2,5 or better is fulfilled.
