Before a possible admission to the Master's program in Mechanical Engineering, the applicant's professional aptitude must be determined by the board of examiners. (also as a [DOC-file](http://www.uni-due.de/imperia/md/content/maschinenbau/ant...)) must be completed in full and submitted electronically with the necessary attachments to the chairman of the Mechanical Engineering Examination Board with the subject "Master's admission".
The language of instruction at the University of Duisburg-Essen is German (except in the English-language programs). Therefore, you must have good German language skills if you want to study successfully. The majority of foreign applicants must pass the "Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang" (DSH 2 level; with some exceptions) before beginning their studies.

In the international environment of mechanical engineering, English plays an increasing role as an international technical language. The aim of the study program is therefore also to convey a familiarity with the English technical language through the use of the English language in selected elective and optional courses.
