University of Greifswald Greifswald
The Master of Science in Regional Development: Dynamics of Spatial Transformation (Regionalentwicklung) at the University of Greifswald analyses dynamic changes in the economy and society from a spatial perspective. You gain the knowledge and methods to work on complex economic and sociocultural questions, from global transformation processes and regional disparities to spatial justice and society-environment dynamics. The programme combines human geography in depth with interdisciplinary breadth. In the compulsory modules you learn advanced qualitative and quantitative methods of empirical spatial research, with international perspectives on the Baltic Sea region and East and Southeast Asia. In the second semester you apply this in a study project with fieldwork, and in the third you plan and carry out your own case study. Electives in areas such as GIS, sustainability geography, economics, marketing, law and political science let you build your own profile, with learning in small groups and close supervision.
