For documents not issued in German or English, a translation into German or English by an officially sworn translator is also required.
If you are still studying at the time of application and cannot provide a degree certificate with a grade, please submit a current transcript of records with a provisional average grade. The degree certificate must be submitted by the end of the first semester of your master's program.

Required university degree:
We require proof of completion of a relevant bachelor's degree in the discipline related to History, Languages and Cultures of the Near East
A bachelor's degree in "History, Languages, and Cultures of the Near East"
from the University of Hamburg or a comparable degree program from a German or recognized foreign university in an Oriental Studies or related subject, with appropriate proficiency in the target languages.
If no degree certificate is available at the time of application, it can be submitted by the end of the first master's semester. For the documents required in this case, see "Application Documents to Be Submitted" below.
Recognition of Certificates for Degrees Obtained Abroad
For applicants who have earned their first degree abroad, recognition of a degree obtained abroad will be processed as part of the faculty's application process.
