What you need to apply for Artificial Intelligence Engineering at University of Passau
Unless English was the language of instruction for your prior university education, you should provide a language certificate at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), such as:
TOEFL (567 paper-based, 87 internet-based, ITP 543 'silver' or better)
IELTS (score 5.5)
Cambridge English Language Assessment at level 'Advanced' (CAE) or 'Proficiency' (CPE)
or an equivalent English language certificate. A first degree or secondary education completed exclusively in English also counts as proof of English-language proficiency.
To facilitate living in Germany, you should ideally also have German language skills at level A1 CEFR (beginner's level). If cannot provide a certificate but meet all other requirements, you will still be admitted to the programme; however, you will complete a compulsory beginner's German course during the first year of study on top of your regular modules.

This is further qualified as follows:
Your degree must have been earned over a course of study of a standard length of three years or more.
The final grade for your first degree must be 2.7 or better under the German marking system, or the relevant equivalent final grade in a foreign marking system.
If your final grade is not 2.7 (or the equivalent foreign grade) or better, you may still apply if you can prove that you ranked among the best 70% of graduates within your particular degree programme in the academic year in which your final certificate was issue

What to prepare for your application to Artificial Intelligence Engineering
Documents you must submit with your application
A chronological curriculum vitae.
A certified copy of your relevant first degree certificate and transcripts of your results, showing a final grade of 2.7 or better according to the German grading scale (foreign grades will be converted after we receive your application). Alternatively, you can present a confirmation from your university's examinations office showing that your results were ranked among the best 70% of your cohort.

If you attained your undergraduate degree outside Germany, you must submit evidence that your degree included at least 10 ECTS credits for a project that involved independent study using scientific methods, set deadlines, and a requirement to present written findings at the end. To do this, you should submit an English or German-language abstract/summary of your undergraduate dissertation/bachelor's thesis/final year project or an academic research paper or publication that demonstrates your ability to solve a scientific research problem independently. It is highly recommended that you include a hyperlink to an electronic version of the entire text of your original-language work.

A copy of the identity page of your passport. EU citizens may send a copy of their national identity card instead. Please black out sensitive information, such as the passport number, but make sure your name, nationality and date of birth are clearly legible.
Application during the final semester of your undergraduate degree
If, at the time of your application, you cannot provide your degree certificate due to still being enrolled in the final semester of your undergraduate degree programme, you must submit the transcript of records thus far available. If admitted to the programme, you must then complete all modules and submit all work for your undergraduate degree before the start of teaching on the Master's programme.
You must include the following language certificates with your application
If neither your native language nor your language of schooling was English, you must provide proof of English language skills equivalent to level B2 CEFR.
If neither your native language nor your language of schooling was German, you will have to provide proof of German language skills equivalent to level A1 CEFR by the end of the first year of study in Passau.
Certified copies
Please submit certified copies of your certificates - never originals! Documents you send in with your application are not returned to you.
Certified translations
If any of your documents are written in a language other than English or German, you will additionally have to have them translated by a certified translator.
