M.A. Digital Communication

Digital Communication is a German-taught Master of Arts (M.A.) at HAW Hamburg on the Art and Media Campus at Finkenau. It takes 4 full-time semesters and starts in the summer semester only. It focuses on digital journalism: 24 students work in a professional newsroom producing the daily online magazine FINK.HAMBURG. In the first two semesters you also take Communication Skills, covering IT, media psychology and media management, and Digital Strategy, covering media ethics, media law and communication planning. In the third semester you run two supervised communication projects, and in the fourth you plan and carry out a project with a media business for your Master's thesis. Requirements include a first degree of at least 180 credits, very good German, English at B1 or above, work samples and a successful selection interview. International applicants prove German with a recognised test such as Goethe C1, TestDaF 4 or DSH-2.
