English Literature and Culture is an English-taught Master of Arts (M.A.) at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. It takes 4 semesters (120 ECTS), you can start in summer or winter, and admission is open. A large literary studies share deepens your methods for reading texts from every period and genre, from novels and theatre to comics. A cultural studies share introduces the history of Great Britain in particular and the politics and media of the English-speaking world. Typical questions include how drama since the Renaissance steers an audience's emotions, how science and literature relate across periods, and how writers shaped regional identities in Scotland or Wales. It suits you if you love reading and have a strong grounding in literary studies. Requirements include a Bachelor's in English or a related field with at least 20 credits in anglophone literary studies, and very good English (C1).
