What you need to apply for Business Informatics at Philipps-University Marburg

Proof of German language skills is not required, if you have a German school leaving certificate or a university degree from Germany with German as the language of instruction.

We require proof that you have completed a relevant Bachelor's degree in the fields of Business Informatics, Computer Science or Business Administration or proof of a comparable domestic or foreign university degree qualifying you for a profession. The professionally qualifying university degree must have been passed with an overall grade of 3.2 (German grade scale, lower is better) or 7.3 grade points (higher is better) or better in accordance with § 28 of the General Provisions.
As part of the completed degree program or another degree program, a total of at least 90 credit points (CP) must have been completed in modules from Business Informatics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Business Administration.
Of these, at least 18 CP must have been completed in the fields of Business Information and Business Administration, at least 18 CP in Mathematics and at least 30 CP in Computer Science.
Furthermore,
\- 6 credit points must be allocated to competences from the modules ‘Information Management’ and either ‘Introduction to Management’ or ’Decision Theory and Finance’ as well as
\- either 9 CP must be allocated to competences from the module ’Object-oriented Programming’ or 6 CP to competences from the module ’Software Engineering’ and
\- credit points at least to the specified extent must be allocated to competences from at least 3 of the 5 modules
a) ‘Introduction to Statistics’ (6 CP)
b) ‘Operations Research‘ (9 CP)
c) ‘Algorithms and Data Structures’ (9 CP)
d) ‘Database Systems’ (9 CP) and
e) either ‘Basic Real Analysis’ (9 CP) or ‘Basic Linear Algebra’ (9 CP).
Course-specific knowledge and skills that must be provenThe degree programme's modules and courses are usually taught in English. A German-language course is also possible if requested by all the students in the module or course. The coursework and the examinations can be taken in either German or English, depending on the student's choice. Optional and mandatory courses may include modules imported from Bachelor's degree programmes or other subject areas in the German language, which means the choice may be restricted in some cases.

What to prepare for your application to Business Informatics
Passports or equivalent identity documents for yourself and any members of your family accompanying you which are valid for the entire duration of your stay in Germany
A visa for yourself and any members of your family accompanying you
Letter of invitation from the university or fellowship award letter
A biometric passport photo for your residence permit; possibly other passport photos for the various ID cards you will need during your stay (please observe the requirements for passport photos laid down by the German Foreign Office)
In many cases you will also need the following documents:
Birth certificates for yourself and any members of your family accompanying you (preferably inGerman translation)
Marriage certificate (preferably in German translation)
Certified copies of your doctoral certificate or any other certificates awarded for academic degrees (preferably in German or English translation)
Vaccination certificate
A declaration referring to particular or previous illness (possibly recent x-rays) and any current medication
If you intend to drive while you are in Germany: international driving licence or foreign driving licence including translation (depending on country of issue); if you wish to take your car with you to Germany you will need additional documentation
If you sign an employment contract with a university – depending on the type of contract – you will need additional documents; please ascertain which documents are necessary in your particular case prior to entering the country
