In addition, applicants are encouraged to supply one or two representative research publications, if any. Please do not include class project reports.
GRE General Test / GATE test
Starting with applications for summer semester 2026: Applicants for Computer Science, Cybersecurity, DSAI, Embedded Systems and Visual Computing who have no degree certificate from the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) region, Switzerland, or the UK are required to upload the test result from the GRE General Test or the Indian GATE test. Other applicants may optionally include a test result. Please attach the test result to the end of your degree certificate document.
For applications until winter semester 2025/26: You may optionally attach the result from a GRE General Test to the end of your degree certificate document.
In order to be admitted to the programme, students must have received a bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification from a German or foreign university in the field of Visual Computing or a related field (particularly informatics, computer science, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering or mechatronics) or proof of equivalent academic achievement.
Specifically, they must also provide the following information and/or documents:
What to prepare for your application to Visual Computing
1. a curriculum vitae highlighting relevant course work, major academic achievements, and prior research experience, including published or communicated research results
2. a personal statement explaining the applicant's motivation and reasons for pursuing a M.Sc. in Visual Computing. This point is very important for us. Please avoid superficial answers and do not exceed two pages.
3. In addition, applicants are encouraged to supply one or two representative research publications, if any. Please do not include class project reports.
4. a copy of your TOEFL (the code of our University, Dept. of Computer Science is 8399) or IELTS score (www.toefl.org, www.ielts.org). Please note: Exceptions are only made for native speakers and those who hold a degree of a University in a country, where English is the mother tongue. A degree from India or Pakistan will not be considered as valid English proficiency proof.
For German students, it is sufficient if they can prove high school knowledge of English (Grund- oder Leistungskurs in der Oberstufe). If not, they have to provide a TOEFL or IELTS score.
It is not sufficient to state that English is the language of instruction at your current university.
As a guideline, the following scores are expected:

5. academic certificates:
