Admission to the degree programme requires: a) the acquisition of at least 180 credit points (CP) in a biomathematical course of study or b) the successful completion of a first mathematical course of study qualifying for a profession and the acquisition of at least 15 credit points in the field of biology or c) the successful completion of a first professional course of study in biology and the acquisition of at least 30 credit points in the field of mathematics and computer science.
Logical thinking and abstraction skills as well as enjoyment of puzzles of all kinds coupled with curiosity and an interest in systematically solving biological problems are good prerequisites for studying biomathematics. A related bachelor's degree as well as competencies in the fields of mathematics amounting to 30 ECTS and biology amounting to 15 ECTS are required, but can also be made up in parallel to the master's program in biomathematics.
It is also evident in biomathematics that many students switch directly from a bachelor's degree to a master's degree and earn their degree there in 2 years. The requirement of an average grade below 2.5 as an entry requirement has been abolished.
